The Jericho Sailing Centre is modeled, not after a yacht club, or a sailing club but, after a community centre. Our playground, gymnasium, arena, pitch, pool and diamond is the sea. We are Vancouver’s Ocean Access Community Centre.

The “Sailing” in Jericho Sailing Centre stands for paddling kayaks, paddleboards, surf skis and outrigger canoes. It stands for rowing, windsurfing, skimboarding and yes, even sailing, in the most common impression of the word- not the yachts, just the dinghies: Lasers, Hobies, Tasars, Albacores and other small, one to three person, boats. It stands for introducing over 6,000 people each year to Vancouver’s marine environment.

The people we serve come from all over Vancouver and the Metro Vancouver area, all ages, and because of our low cost accessibility, all walks of life. From high schools, landlubber community centres and other organizations, kids flock to Jericho Beach Park to get their first real taste of ocean adventure. Our affiliated Sea Scout troop is the largest in the world. Adults too can join in the fun. We are home to the largest windsurfing school in Canada, high volume ocean kayaking and dinghy sailing schools, and a world renowned experiential, rehabilitative and freedom delivering disabled sailing program created and developed by Vancouver’s former Mayor, Sam Sullivan. They all come to us as landlubbers and we transform them into seafarers.

The Jericho Sailing Centre is the only community centre in Vancouver offering such a wide variety of low cost, naturally-powered ocean access programs to the citizens of this city named after a prominent seafarer.

Fees:

JSCA Membership year is 1 April to 31 March annually. Boat storage is based on square-footage. All prices must add HST.
