When is the Jericho Sailing Centre open?
The gates open around 7:30 am and are usually closed at dusk. The office is open 9:30 am to 5:30 pm seven days a week from fall to early spring, and from 9:30 am to 9 pm in the late spring and summer.
Where can I put my things when I am at the Jericho Sailing Centre?
If you haven’t rented a JSCA locker, there are day lockers available upstairs, but you must provide your own lock.
What if I want to come earlier than 7:30, or after dusk?
Members may buy a gate key from the Jericho office. The locks are changed on April 1st every year, so keys are good until March 31st.
Can I rent a dinghy or other type of boat from you?
There are schools located within the Sailing Centre compound that can help you. MacSailing rents sailing dinghies, Windsure rents stand-up paddleboards, skimboards and windsurfers, and Ecomarine rents kayaks.
Is there a way to use boats without owning or renting?
Yes, you can join one of our affiliated clubs, or get a season’s pass at one of our schools. The best way to find out about the clubs is to look at their websites. Please click the Schools Menu item above. Or call them at : MacSailing 604-224-7245, Windsure 604-224-0615, and Ecomarine 604-222-3565.
Do you have lessons for children and adults?
There are schools located within the Sailing Centre compound that do. MacSailing offers sailing lessons, Windsure offers stand-up paddleboarding, skimboarding and windsurfing lessons, and Ecomarine offers kayaking lessons. They also have summer camps for children.
Do you have a bulletin board with boats for sale?
Yes, it is located at the back of the main entry hall.

How does the Jericho Sailing Centre use the fees I pay for storage and membership?
The Jericho Sailing Centre is a non-profit association funded entirely by its users. User fees pay for everything from compound maintenance and improvement to toilet paper.
How long is my membership good for?
Our membership year is from April 1st to March 31st. Your membership is good from the date you pay for it until the following March 31st.
Do you prorate membership?
Are there different kinds of membership?
We have single, family, and junior memberships. They are all yearly (from when you pay until the next March 31st) and non-transferable.
A single membership is for one adult. A junior membership is for one person UNDER 18 years of age. A family membership is for two adults in a spousal relationship living at the same address. Family memberships may also include children of the adults, if the children are UNDER 18 years of age.
I am an adult. Can I have a family membership with my roommate? Sister? Father?
No. You must be in a spousal relationship with the other adult on the membership.
Does membership include storage?
No. Membership and storage rates are separate.
Does membership include use or discounts on use of any kind of boat/windsurfer/board/kayak?
No. You may be interested in membership in one of our affiliated clubs, or in a season’s pass at one of our schools.
Membership Card FAQ
What if I forget my membership card?
You can sign out a guest pass in the Jericho office.
What do I do if my card doesn’t open the change rooms/rooftop ?
If you are a current JSCA member, bring your card to the Jericho office to be fixed.
Why can’t I have a new membership card every year?
Membership cards cost us about $10 each. In order to keep our membership fees low and reduce waste, we only issue new cards every five years.
What if I lose my card within 5 years of getting it?
You can buy a new one in the Jericho office.
How many guests can I bring with me?
You can bring as many guests as you like, up to five times each per year. If your guest comes to use our members-only facilities more than five times a year, he or she should become a member.
Do I have to sign my guests in?
If you are going on the water with your guest, you and your guest must sign a waiver. This is in the JSCA Sailor’s Log outside the office.
What if my guests need to get into the showers?
There are guest cards available in the Jericho office. On the day you bring a guest, you may sign out a guest card. It must be returned when you are done for the day.
Can someone use my boat without me?
Non-members may not use your boat at the Jericho Sailing Centre without you. Members may. Please advise the office if you have authorized another member to use your boat.
What kind of boat can I store at the Jericho Sailing Centre?
We can accommodate naturally powered craft. Generally, craft must be less than 22 feet, and may not have a motor, cabin, galley, or head. If you are unsure if your craft is eligible, please contact the Jericho office.
Do you have room for my boat right now?
We usually have room for kayaks, boards, lasers (and similar small dinghies), small rowboats, canoes, and outrigger canoes. We have a 6-12 month waiting list (the “ground storage” waiting list) for boats that must be stored with the mast up.
If I buy a boat that is already in the yard, can I have the spot?
Yes. This is possible if you buy a boat that is already in the yard and the previous owner no longer wants the spot. A storage transfer form can be completed by you and the previous owner.
Do I have to be a member to be on a waiting list?
Do you have a storage locker available for me for me to rent right now?
We usually have short outdoor lockers available. There is a waiting list for tall (indoor and outdoor) lockers and for short indoor lockers.
How big are your lockers?
Short lockers are 4’x1’x1.5’, and tall lockers are 8’x1’x1.5’.
How many boats can I store?
Only one storage craft space may be rented per single or junior membership and two storage craft spaces per family membership. Only one locker may be rented per membership.
How much does storage cost?
Yearly storage rates range from about $50 for a small locker to $600 and above for large catamarans.
Do storage fees include insurance?
No. You are responsible for insuring your own craft.
Do you prorate storage?
Our membership year starts on April 1st, and we prorate storage from October 1st to March 31st.
Can I store my craft with you for only a few days? For only a few months?
We can store your craft for up to 14 days on a per day basis. After that, you are required to pay for yearly storage.
Is craft storage outside or inside?
Storage is outside. There is also very limited space available in a locked storage container for small craft such as kayaks and boards.
Can I rent a powerboat at the Jericho Sailing Centre?
Can I store a dinghy with a motor at the Jericho Sailing Centre?
No. Nothing with a motor can be stored at the Jericho Sailing Centre.
Can I launch a powerboat?
No. You cannot launch anything with a motor at the Jericho Sailing Centre.
Can I dock my dinghy or powerboat at the emergency dock?
No. You can drop off or pick up people there if there is room, but you may not dock for any period of time.
