BC Sailing Race Management Courses

The Jericho Sailing Centre will be hosting 2 BC Sailing Race Management Courses.

The first is the ARO Course which is one session on Tuesday, February 23 at 7 pm at the Jericho Sailing Centre.  

The ARO course is for members of a club race committee. It’s about sailboat racing for new folks, and covers some of the jobs on the committee, basic signals and communication. Fee is $20, which includes a copy of the handy booklet “Join the Race Committee”. Those who attend will be certified “Assistant Race Officer”. The second is the CRO  Course which is three sessions Thursday, February 25 Tuesday, March 1 Thursday, March 3 at 7 pm at the Jericho Sailing Centre Association

The CRO course is for leaders of a club race committee. You should have racing experience, or have spent some time on a club race committee. Over three sessions, we will cover the basics of the racing rules, working with your committee and your club, setting a course, starting procedures, managing racing and the finish. Fee is $30, and you need to bring a current rule book with you to the course. Those who attend will be certified as a “Club Race Officer” following a report of your practical experience.
