2016 Volunteer of the Year – Lou Parsons
Last month the JSCA held the annual
Volunteer Appreciation Dinner to thank
all of the volunteers involved in delivering
low cost, highly accessible ocean recreation
facilities, programs and services to the people of Vancouver. At the dinner, Lou Parsons was recognized as the JSCA Volunteer of the Year for 2016. From the many early mornings, prepping and launching our rescue boats, to putting them away late at night after the annual fireworks shows, to supporting most of our on water events, training Jericho Rescue Team members, and serving on committees and our Board of Director’s; Lou’s dedication and hard work have exemplified the Jericho community volunteer spirit and we thank him for it.
When not volunteering, Lou can often be found communing among seagulls from his rowboat, laying early morning wake across English Bay-see cover photo.
New volunteers Gordon Newell and Florian Krauthan were also named as JSCA’s Rookie Volunteers of the year.
