Proposed Port Amendment Puts Siwash Rock Out of Reach

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting public comment to a proposed amendment to the Marine Restricted Area (MRA) in the vicinity of First Narrows that would make Siwash Rock and a large section of the Stanley Park shoreline off limits to kayaks and other human powered craft.

The Notice of Amendment, and a draft copy of the Port Information Guide including proposed amendments, is available at this link: Keep Siwash Accessible

Don’t wait-the public comment period ends THIS SUNDAY October 8.

Our friends at the Hollyburn Sailing Club have proposed to the Port that a line due west from Prospect Point as the southern border of the MRA. This idea could serve both the interests of commercial traffic transiting First Narrows and recreational users who view this beautiful shoreline water space as an extension of Stanley Park.
