Virtual Regatta Winter Series Feb 2 – Mar 2
Attention sailboat racers! JSCA member and keen Tasar and Wasp sailor Julian Hannabuss has once again organized a Virtual Regatta series for us this winter. Winter dinghy racing from the safety and comfort of your computer or mobile device. I’ve heard the breeze is pretty reliable as well. This year Julian has selected the Laser as the platform.
The practice race session will be held January 26th for those wanting to try it out before deciding if they want to register for the series. The 5 week series starts for real Tuesday February 2nd, ending Tuesday March 2nd. 4 races per night, starting at 19:30 hrs. 20 races in the series, best 15 to count.
Want to take part? You need to:
a) register as a user on the Virtual Regatta site www.virtualregatta.com and choose the Inshore Game
b) contact Julian to register for the series. He needs to know your real name, Virtual Regatta user name, Email address, and Club affiliation. firstname.lastname@example.org
c) Join the Vancouver Virtual Regatta Whatsapp group, which is where communication happens before, during and after the races. Julian is inviting members of the DSA to have a go, and as usual the regular set of Jericho, Viking, Locarno and UBC folks will be with us too, along with the occasional guest from Royal Van or West Van!
The attached PDF document breaks down the registration process step by step. It’s a good idea to try out the system early as there are some training modules and learning resources to help you get up to speed. If you are a new user you’ll want to practice a little before mixing it up with the fleet.
Big thanks to Julian for putting this all together for us.
