SUMMARY:Jericho Wavechaser Paddle Race Series
DESCRIPTION:The series will run every Thursday from May 2nd to August 29th off the beaches at the Jericho Sailing Centre. The races are open to all level of paddlers in outrigger\, SUP\, surfski\, prone\, sea kayak\, canoe\, rowing shell. Courses vary depending on conditions\, each race night has a short and a long course. Check-in starts at 6 pm\, race starts at 7 pm. \nNo Registration on Site\nPre-register only at Webscorer.com. Each week the link to the race registration will be posted on the WaveChaser Facebook page as of midnight (12:01 AM) on Friday. \nRacers Must Check-in On-site Before the Race\nCheck-in will be set up outside the JSCA compound on the beach between the ramps #2 and #3. When you arrive\, you need to check-in\, give the race directors your boat/bib number and review the race course. The course map is on a whiteboard hanging on the fence by Gate #3. It is critical for the safety crew to know how many racers are on the water. If you pre-register but don’t check-in\, you will not be counted. \nRace Fees\nRace entry is $5 for Jericho Sailing Centre members and $10 for non-members. You can buy a series pass for the summer and save a few $$! There are 18 races\, so the series pass will give you 4 free races plus you only pay the processing fee ($1.40) once\, instead of every time you register.

DESCRIPTION:Women on Water is a wonderful event on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer where women* who are 16+ of all paddling abilities come together for a relaxed\, semi-guided paddle. This is a great opportunity to connect with other paddlers\, socialize\, make new friends and just go for a paddle together. \nSliding scale pricing is available for this programme. \nDouble Kayak discount and BYO Kayak \nWith the introduction of our sliding scale pricing\, we have discontinued the discount for using a double kayak. \nHowever\, if you would like to paddle a double kayak with your paddling partner you are very welcome to select the “accessible” price option for each of you. \nIf you would like to participate with your own kayak you are also welcome to choose the “accessible” price option. This will help us pay our instructors and for the logistic of organizing this wonderful event. \n*”Women on Water” is inclusive and welcomes (but is not limited to): cis-gender women\, nonbinary folks\, transgender women\, 2-spirited folks\, those who are exploring or do not conform to gender identity\, and those who feel safe and included in our space \nRegistration opens each Wednesday morning at 8am for the following week.

DESCRIPTION:At this meeting\, we review our previous year’s events and preview our coming year’s events\, setting the dates for next year’s event schedule. We will also be looking at alternate scoring systems for our Penguin Cup\, Tuesday and Sunday sail racing series. We encourage representatives from all of our racing fleets and groups both paddle and sail to attend. \nA working group has been examining alternate scoring systems for our sailing series since January. Richard Spencer has modeled a few scoring system options at jracing.org and will be introducing the different models at the meeting. Please take the time to visit jracing.org to see how these work for yourself. This potential change will have a significant impact on how racing is scored and how we determine series winners going forward. \nThis meeting will be held virtually on Zoom.
