SUMMARY:Jericho Rescue Team Training Course (postponed)
DESCRIPTION:All JSCA events scheduled for April have been cancelled due to COVID-19. We will attempt to re-schedule the Rescue Team training once the Centre is re-opened. \nThis is the mandatory two-day training course for those members interested in volunteering with Jericho Rescue. We are always on the lookout for healthy\, agile\, members who want to add to their seamanship skills and are competent with least one style of Jericho craft. The team relies on the collective knowledge and experience of its members to provide operational support and safety coverage for our 80+ event days throughout the year and to help members when things go wrong. Our motto is: “members helping members” and we do it while having fun along the way. \nThe course involves both classroom and practical on-water elements with our two rigid hull inflatable rescue boats\, our aluminum work boat\, and our race management catamaran. Mandatory first aid training and VHF certification on subsequent dates are also provided. Applicants must obtain their Pleasure Craft Operator Card independently. \nIf you are interested in taking the course feel free to give us a call at 604.224.4177 or stop by for a chat. Either Dominique Labrosse (our Safety and Events Manager)\, Andrei Bredin (Assistant General Manager) or Mike Cotter (General Manager) are happy to speak with you.

DESCRIPTION:The 2020 Vancouver International Boat Show provides opportunities to explore hundreds of boats\, boating accessories\, products and services from top boating exhibitors. For more information\, paddle over to http://www.vancouverboatshow.ca. \nWe are asking for current JSCA members to help crew the Jericho Sailing Centre Association’s display booth at the Vancouver International Boat Show from February 5-9 at BC Place Stadium. Members who volunteer for a two-hour “watch” will gain free admission to the show and the admiration of thousands of show going seafarers from all over. A great place to meet people and shoot the breeze about the Jericho Sailing Centre and all of the low-cost ocean access opportunities we provide. \nJericho booth crew must enter BC Place Stadium through the Exhibitors Entrance on the east side to get their pass (picture ID required) on their scheduled day. It is suggested that crew members take public transit to the show as parking costs an arm and a leg and JSCA does not cover any expenses. \nPlease call the JSCA office if you would like to volunteer for this event. \nJSCA Boat Show booth map
