2026/2027 Jericho Sailing Centre Association membership & storage invoices have been sent by email over the last month and are due April 1 – after which late fees will apply to unpaid storage on craft and lockers.
If after checking your inbox, spam and junk folders you haven’t received your invoice, or if you need to make changes to it before paying, please contact us at info@jsca.bc.ca.

- Interac e-Transfer to accounts@jsca.bc.ca (include invoice # in notes)
- Online payment using the review and pay button in your original invoice email
- Debit, Visa, M/C, cash or cheque – drop by the office or call 604.224.4177

No Boat? No Problem – Jericho Clubs are Recruiting Now!
Joining one of the Jericho Sailing Centre’s affiliated clubs and co-ops allows access to a range of craft all for a fraction of the cost of ownership, with much less hassle. Clubs also come with opportunities to connect with fellow paddlers, rowers and sailors, and for skill and knowledge development through peer mentoring – the perfect solution for those who want to explore a range of activities without the burden of ownership.

HotJazzJam: Sails, Sunset & Swing! Live Music at Jericho Starting April 17

HotJazzJam Live at Jericho is an exciting collaboration between the Vancity Hot Jazz Society and the Jericho Sailing Centre, bringing live hot jazz, awesome jamming and fun dancing to Jericho. Expect talented ensembles playing hot New Orleans jazz and exuberant early swinging tunes for your listening pleasure and dancing fun. Musical guests are invited to sit-in during the later set, moderated by our house bandleader.
The series runs bi-monthly on Friday evenings in the Surf & Turf room starting April 17, with doors at 1930H PM and live music at 2000H. Bring your dancing shoes. C’mon down and join the live hot jazz fun!

The Jericho Sailing Centre is a unique outdoor/indoor work environment filled with the positive vibes of people in their happy place and offering exposure to a variety of skills. Over the years many of our summer staff have informed their future careers while working here amongst sunshine and smiles.
The Jericho Sailing Centre Association is looking to fill seasonal positions this spring/summer supporting areas of Safety, Storage, Maintenance and Membership Administration. We are looking for motivated folks with strong communication and customer service skills who enjoy hands-on work in a variety of environments. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends and must be between 15-30 years of age, Canadian citizens, permanent residents or refugees. Full Time positions are available from April 20 to Sept 7, 2026.

Youth Camp Registration Open Now For All Three Jericho Schools
All three schools at the Jericho Sailing Centre offer both half and full day youth camp programmes featuring a range of activities including sailing, canoeing, kayaking, SUP, windsurfing, skim boarding, SUP, foiling, beach sports and ecological education.
Jericho Beach Kayak During the winter, JBK also remains available for private sessions and limited winter programmes. For bookings, youth camp registration and more information, paddle over to the Jericho Beach Kayak website.

Extended Through mid April – Seaside Sauna Sessions at the Jericho Sailing Centre
Seaside Sauna Sessions is a collaboration between Windsure Adventure Watersports, Tality Wellness Kitsilano (coming soon!) and The Finnish Sauna Co. This is a simple, outdoor sauna experience by the water. Expect wood-fired heat, ocean cold plunges, and shared sessions in a relaxed, nature-based setting. The pop-up is seasonal and will be running Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays until the end of March. Find us right outside the Windsure Beach Hut!
Jericho Rescue Team Intake Course April 18-19
The Jericho Rescue Team is a staff-supported volunteer team made up of JSCA members who want to help their fellow members. As well as providing support to over 90 events a year, the Jericho Rescue Team helps pick up the pieces when things go awry, and prevents many more seas stories by spreading safety amongst our community.
We are looking for JSCA members who are experts in at least one style of Jericho craft (dinghy, SUP, windsurf, wing, foil, kayak, surfski, OC-1, 2 or 6). Other requirements are a Pleasure Craft Operator’s card, marine VHF certification ROC(M) and valid first aid certification.
There is limited space available in this year’s Jericho Rescue 2-day intake course April 18-19. If you are interested in joining the team, please reach out to Hugo Pineda, our Safety and Events Manager at hugo@jsca.bc.ca.

English Bay Safety Seminar
Never take water safety for granted
Jericho Sailing Centre users share Vancouver’s largest playground with Canada’s busiest port and are required to know and exercise the “rules of the road” while recreating in this area. Users should be aware of shipping lanes, ships transiting between the lanes and anchorages, and Traffic Control Zones. All non-commercial vessels shall stay well clear of commercial vessels including ships at anchor.
Why make your own mistakes when you can learn from the mistakes of others? The English Bay Safety Seminar was developed to help keep Jericho users safe while at play on the waters of English Bay. The seminar covers basic water safety fundamentals along with user specific information drawn from the logs of the Jericho Rescue Team who have intervened in thousands of “sea disasters” over the past 50 years.

Traffic Control Zone 1 Around First Narrows is a Jericho Style Craft No-Go Zone.
Safety Notice to all non-motor power craft users in Vancouver
“All pleasure craft and sailing vessels must be under mechanical power when transiting through the First
Narrows traffic control zone. It is prohibited to enter or transit through the First Narrows traffic control zone on board a personal watercraft, including jet skis and non-motorized vessels, such as sailboats, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards.“

Jericho Sailing Centre Etiquette
Common courtesy goes a long way towards making sure that everyone’s experience at the Jericho Sailing Centre is a positive one. Remember swimming is prohibited from the beach between the pier and the rock groyne East of ramp 4, dollies need to be returned to their spots after launching, and high traffic areas such as hosing stations must be made available for other users immediately after use. Whether you are new to our facility or a life-long user, it is a good idea to review common etiquette here on our blog.
On the Water-Safety is Your Responsibility
On the ocean there are elements of risk that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Regardless of how you decide to use the ocean always show courtesy to others. Please adhere to the code listed below and share with others the responsibility for a safe ocean experience
It is every member’s responsibility to know and observe the rules of the road when on or near the water. Here are some key rules which every Jericho member must know and practice.
0.5 IT IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY TO AVOID A COLLISION
1. Always wear your P.F.D. on the water. PFD’s MUST be properly fitted.
2. Sail powered craft have the right of way over power craft, paddle and rowing powered craft.
3. All non-commercial vessels shall keep well clear of commercial vessels.
4. It is illegal and extremely dangerous to pass between a tug and it’s tow.
5. A port tack sailing vessel shall keep clear of a starboard tack vessel.
6. A windward vessel shall keep clear of a leeward vessel.
7. A vessel clear astern shall keep clear of a vessel ahead.
8. Any vessel overtaking another shall keep clear.
9. A vessel tacking or gybing shall keep clear of a vessel on a tack.
10. The area south of the orange can buoys is for training or transiting only.
11. Swimming or wading on the beach in front of the Centre is prohibited and is particularly dangerous for small children.
12. It is unsafe to loiter or let children play near the bottom of launching ramps.
13. Stay well clear of the end of the Jericho Pier as fishers cast lines as far as possible
14. Be cautious of pathway traffic when launching/retrieving
15. Do not leave your craft on the shoreline for extended periods of time
16. Stay at least 50M (sail) or 300M (paddle) clear of ships at anchor in Vancouver Harbour.
17. Be aware of the low water hazard (<4′) wharf remnants between ramps #3 & #4.
Common sense goes a long way toward maintaining a safe environment. Membership in the Jericho Sailing Centre Association is contingent on members knowing and observing the Safe Ocean Sailing rules.
